Ring up a sale

A sale starts at the register. Open Sales → Register from the menu; if the register is locked, enter your PIN to take it. You’ll see the New sale screen with an empty cart ready to go.

There are three ways to add a line:

  • Scan or type a SKU. Use the Scan / enter SKU box (a barcode scanner types straight into it), then press Add. If nothing matches, you’ll see a not-found message and no line is added.
  • Search by name. Type in the Search items box, open the item to see its variants, and press Add on the one you want.
  • Add a custom line. For a one-off — an engraving job, a repair, anything not in your catalog — press + Add custom line, give it a description and price (and an optional note), then Add line.

Each line in the Cart can be fine-tuned:

  • Quantity — type the count in the small box on the line. To remove a line entirely, press the .
  • Line note — press + Add note to attach a note to one line (e.g. “no engraving”).
  • Line discount — press + Add discount to take a percent or a fixed amount off that line.

Below the lines you can apply an Order discount to the whole sale, attach a Customer (see Add & find a customer), and add an Order note. Discounts are only available if your role allows them.

The cart totals up as you go: Subtotal, any Discount, VAT (where it applies), and the Total.

When the cart looks right, you’re ready to take payment — head to Take cash & finish the sale.
