Add & find a customer
Attaching a customer to a sale means their name shows on the receipt and the order is filed against them. You can add and find customers right from the register, or manage your whole customer book in the back-office.
Attach a customer during a sale
Section titled “Attach a customer during a sale”In the cart, under Customer (optional):
- Start typing in Attach a customer… — results show each customer’s name with their phone or email, so you can tell apart people with the same name. Pick one to attach it.
- No match? Press + New customer to add them without leaving the sale (see the fields below). They’re attached to the cart as soon as you save.
Once attached, the customer shows as a chip with a View history link to their past orders. To remove them from the sale, press the ✕ on the chip.
Your customer book
Section titled “Your customer book”Go to Sales → Customers to see everyone. Search with the Search by name, phone, or email… box, and press New customer to add one. Each row links to that customer’s details and orders.
Customer details
Section titled “Customer details”A customer has a few simple fields — only the Name is required:
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Name | Required. |
| Business name | Optional — for a business customer. |
| Phone | Optional — pick the country, then type the number. See Phone numbers below. |
| Optional — used to email receipts. | |
| Notes | Optional — anything worth remembering. |
| VAT status | Optional — turn on the VAT-exempt (registered reseller / charity) switch to zero-rate this customer’s sales. |
| Delivery SMS | Optional — records that the customer consents to delivery SMS updates. Consent is saved now; the updates themselves start once delivery SMS goes live. |
| Optional — records that the customer consents to WhatsApp updates. Consent is saved now; the messages themselves start once the WhatsApp channel goes live. |
Press Create (or Save when editing).
Delete a customer
Section titled “Delete a customer”Press Delete on the customer’s row in your customer book, or on their details page, then confirm. Their past orders keep the name, so old receipts and history still make sense. Deleting can’t be undone.
Deleting a customer forfeits their loyalty points. A deleted customer can’t redeem, so any points they hold are removed when you delete them. If they have points, the confirmation tells you how many before you confirm — for example “This customer has 1,250 loyalty points. They will be lost if you delete this customer.” If their balance can’t be loaded, it says their loyalty points, if any, will be lost. That includes a business that once ran a loyalty program but whose plan no longer includes Loyalty: the points can’t be shown, but deleting still removes them. See Loyalty.
Phone numbers
Section titled “Phone numbers”Every phone field — a customer’s Phone, a reservation’s Guest phone and your Store phone under Receipt branding — has a country picker on its left, showing the country and its dialling code (for example BS +1242).
- A blank field starts on your business’s country, so for most numbers you just type the local number.
- To enter a number from another country, press the picker and choose the country first. The list covers The Bahamas and the rest of the Caribbean.
- The number is saved in international form —
+1242…for a Bahamian number. If you type the area code or the full number with its+, it isn’t added twice.
Numbers saved before the picker existed keep working. An older number stored without a country code — a bare seven-digit local, say — shows exactly as it was saved, with the note “Saved exactly as entered. Choose a country to convert it.” Editing it leaves it as you type it. To convert it to international form, choose its country in the picker.
VAT-exempt customers
Section titled “VAT-exempt customers”Some customers — a registered reseller buying for resale, or a charity — are exempt from VAT. Turn on the VAT-exempt switch on their customer record, and every sale you ring up for them is zero-rated: VAT is removed from each otherwise-taxable item on the receipt, which shows a VAT-exempt sale note.
You can see a customer’s status at the top of their details page — VAT status reads Exempt or Standard. Leave the switch off for everyone who pays VAT as normal.
