Importing your data

The first import

The first import starts on its own once you’ve connected and mapped at least one store — there’s no button to press. (Nothing syncs until a store is mapped, so if the import hasn’t begun, check your store mapping first.) Swann Retail then copies your existing Loyverse catalog across in one pass, bringing things over in a sensible order so everything links up:

1. Tax rates
2. Categories
3. Items (and their variants)
4. Customers
5. Stock levels

Your tax rates come across first, so each item keeps the rate it had in Loyverse. Swann Retail makes a sensible first guess at each rate’s type — a 0% tax comes in as zero-rated, anything above 0% as a standard rate — which you can refine in Swann Retail afterwards (for example, marking one as reduced or exempt). An item that’s tax-free in Loyverse stays tax-free.

This first copy is the starting point the ongoing two-way sync builds on. It runs once, automatically — you don’t need to start or re-run it yourself.

It runs in the background

The import runs on Swann Retail’s side, so it keeps going even if you close the tab or your connection drops. It’s resumable — it picks up where it left off rather than starting over, and never creates duplicates. A large catalog imports steadily over a few minutes (Loyverse limits how fast any app can pull data), which is normal.

Cleaning up customers

A move from Loyverse can leave a few customer records that need tidying.

• Duplicate customers. If two records share the same customer code, Swann Retail flags a duplicate-customer conflict. Use Merge customers to combine them — choose the record to keep, and the other folds into it.
• Bulk edits. You can export your customers to a spreadsheet, edit them, and import them back to fix many records at once.

After importing

Once the first import finishes, you’re synced. From here:
