The repair board

The repair board shows every open repair job in your store, sorted into columns by how far along it is. Open Repair board from the Sales menu to see the whole workshop at a glance, then move each job on as the work moves.

The repair board is part of the mechanic vehicles tools. If you don’t see Repair board in your Sales menu, it isn’t on your plan — contact Swann Software to add it.

Every open job sits in one of four columns, each with a count of the jobs in it:

Column What it means
Intake The job has been opened and is waiting to start.
In bay Someone is working on the vehicle.
Waiting on parts Work is held until parts arrive.
Ready The work is done and the vehicle can go home.

Each card shows a short job reference, a short reference for the vehicle, the technician on it (or Unassigned) and any notes on the job. A job joins the board in Intake when it’s opened, and leaves the board when you close it.

  1. Press Actions on the job’s card.
  2. Under Move to, press the column it’s moving to — or Close job when it’s finished.

A job can only move one sensible step at a time:

From Can move to
Intake In bay, Waiting on parts, or Close job
In bay Waiting on parts, Ready, or Close job
Waiting on parts In bay, Ready, or Close job
Ready In bay, or Close job

So a job can’t jump straight from Intake to Ready, and a Ready job that needs more work goes back to In bay. Closing a job is final — a closed job can’t be reopened.

Moving jobs needs the Sell permission. Without it, the board is view-only and the Actions link isn’t shown. If a staff member has signed in at the register with their PIN, the board goes by their permissions.

The board doesn’t refresh on its own — press Refresh at the top to pick up jobs other people have moved.

If someone else moved the same job just before you, you’ll see The board moved since you opened it. Press Refresh to load the latest board, then make your move again — your change isn’t retried for you. Any other problem shows That didn’t work. Try again. on the card.
