The Restaurant add-on

If you serve food, the Restaurant add-on turns Swann Retail into a restaurant point of sale — you seat guests at tables, open a tab and ring rounds onto it, send orders to a kitchen display, and settle the bill at the register.

Restaurant is an add-on to your plan. Swann Software switches it on for your account — there’s no toggle in your own settings to flip. Once it’s on, a set of restaurant tools appears in your menus (you may need to sign out and back in for them to show). If you’d like the add-on, contact Swann Software.

Turning it on switches the whole set on together — you don’t enable the pieces one at a time.

Once the add-on is on, these appear:

Under the Catalog menu:

  • Menu — your catalog laid out as a food menu, grouped by category, with the section order arranged the way it reads on the floor.
  • Modifiers — reusable choice sets (sizes, temperatures, toppings) you attach to items, that a cashier picks at the register.
  • Tables — your floor tables, set up once in the back office.

Under the Sales menu:

  • Floor — your room at a glance: which tables have an open tab, and what’s owed on each. This is where staff open a tab and settle a bill through service.
  • Kitchen — the kitchen display, where the team works active tickets from received to ready.

Under the Reports menu:

  • Table turns — how your tables are turning over.

With the add-on on, New Sale also gains a Service choice so you can mark a walk-up sale as Dine-in or Takeout. A Dine-in sale can be attached to a table; a table-less dine-in sale is fine too. (Delivery is a separate add-on — ask Swann Software.)

Working a table through service — opening a tab, ringing rounds, and settling — is covered in Tables & floor service.
