Manage your items

Your items are the products you sell. Find them under Catalog → Items: search with the Search items box, filter by status, and open any item to edit it. Press New item to add one.

The item form is grouped into sections. Only the Name is required — everything else is optional.

Details

  • Name — what the item is called.
  • Category — search for one, or type a new name to create it on the spot.
  • Photo — add a picture; you can crop it to a square before saving.
  • Tax rate — pick the tax rate that applies to this item, or leave it at (Business default) to charge your store’s default rate. Zero-rated, exempt, and reduced rates are set up under Tax rates and appear in this list to choose from.

Sourcing — optional supplier references (part number, supplier SKU, supplier name, and nicknames) that make back-office search easier.

Pricing & inventory

  • Base price — the item’s price.
  • SKU and Barcode — codes you scan at the register (a barcode is a UPC / EAN).
  • Weight and Unit — if you sell or ship by weight.
  • Description — a rich-text editor with bold, italic, underline, headings, bullet and numbered lists, quotes, and links.

Inventory — switch on stock tracking for the item and record its on-hand count. See Track your stock.

If an item comes in choices — sizes, colours — add up to 3 options (e.g. Size with values Small, Medium, Large), then press Generate combinations to create a variant for each. Each variant can have its own SKU, barcode, and price.

When you’re done, press Create item (or Save changes when editing).

Open an item to Edit it, Deactivate it (hide it from sale without deleting), or Delete it. If you have a label printer connected, Print label prints a scannable barcode label for the item or a chosen variant.
