Courses & seats

When you ring items onto a sale or a table’s tab, you can tag each line with a course and a seat. Courses group the order into rounds — starters, then mains, then dessert. Seats say which guest each item is for.

Courses and seats are part of the Restaurant add-on. If you don’t see the Course / seat control on a line, it isn’t on your plan — see The Restaurant add-on.

Tag a line

As you build the order, each line carries a small ＋ Course / seat control. Open it to set:

• Course — Course 1 through Course 5. Put your starters on Course 1, mains on Course 2, and so on. Lines with the same course number belong to the same round.
• Seat — Seat 1 through Seat 8. Use it to mark which guest ordered the item — handy for a large table where you want to keep each cover’s items straight.

Both are optional, and you set them per line. Leave the choice blank on a line that doesn’t need one; clearing a choice removes it. You set a line’s course and seat as you ring it — they’re saved onto the order with that line.

What courses and seats do

Courses and seats organise the order — they keep a big table’s items grouped by round and by guest so the ticket reads clearly. The course and seat you set stay with each line for the life of the order.

They’re a way of labelling the order, not a timing tool: setting a course doesn’t hold or release a round on its own — your team still works the kitchen display ticket by ticket. There’s no separate “course builder” — you tag lines right on the order as you ring them.
